Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus which is the most common type of diabetes worldwide is due to “Insulin Resistance”.  The insulin being produced by the body does not work very well because the cells are Insensitive to it!. Regular exercise has been shown to reverse the defect and improve insulin action in the cells thus improving ones blood sugar control.

Watching TV or a Couch Potato can result in an increased risk because…for “every two hours a day of inactivity is linked to a 14 percent increase in the risk of diabetes, as opposed to one hour of brisk walking, which is linked to a 34 percent lower risk.”  From the Diabetes in Control Issue 2006.
